Christchurch Convention Centre will be a world-class convention centre, featuring ground-level shopping and several nearby hotels that will attract business events and conferences to Christchurch and the Canterbury region. Construction for the project began in 2015 with an estimated budget of NZD $284 m.

Scope of Services

Marshall Day Acoustics and Marshall Day Entertech were appointed as the acoustic and theatre design consultants for the preliminary design phase of the project.

Scope of services included:

  • Interior acoustic design of Plenary Hall and surrounding areas
  • Sound insulation performance between spaces
  • External building fabric acoustic design
  • Close liaison with Structural engineer to appropriately specify structure to support 16m high operable walls
  • Interior rigging and theatrical planning
  • Spatial planning for operations facilities and loading
